Military Medal 'During the attack on MONTBREHAIN, north of ST. QUENTIN on 5th October, 1918, he acted as a runner between Battalion Headquarters and front line. During the day he did several arduous trips under heavy shell and machine gun fire to each sector of the Battalion line. He not only delivered the messages, but on each return to Battalion Headquarters was able to give the Commanding Officer precise information as to locality and condition of the various posts. By making an intelligent personal reconnaissance of the front each forward trip he contributed to the success of the operation much more than his specific duties demanded.'
