Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and determination during the operations near Foucaucourt, 28 August, 1918. His platoon commander becoming a casualty, he organized and kept his men together under heavy artillery and machine gun fire. In spite of being blown up and severely shaken, he pressed on through heavy fire to the final objective.'
