Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 26 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 2 April 1916.

Taken on strength, 1st Division Ammunition Column,, 10 November 1916, and posted to No 1 Section.

Admitted to 5th Australian Field Ambulance, 13 November 1916 (acute rheumatism); transferred to 38th Casualty Clearing Station, 16 november 1916 (inflamed knew joints); to No 2 Convalescent Depot, Rouen, 25 november 1916; discharged to duty, 27 November 1916.

Found guilty, 2 January 1917, of neglect of duty: awarded 28 days' Field Punishment No 2.
