Military Medal 'During the operations by the 10th Australian Infantry Brigade at LA FLAQUE east of WARFUSEE ABANCOURT, on night 10th/11th August, 1918, No. 12372 Lance Corporal PATIENCE, with No. 4353 Private CAMERON, on their own initiative, went out 100 yards in front of leading tank into enemy line to search for a wounded scout. After exposing themselves to heavy machine gun fire they eventually found the wounded man and carried him back to a returning tank in which they placed him. They continued to carry on their very fine work during the whole of the operations, filled returning tanks with wounded and were the means of saving many men. Lance Corporal PATIENCE and Private CAMERON's courage and devotion to duty in the face of very heavy rifle and machine gun fire is deserving of the highest praise.'
