Distinguished Service Order

'For conspicuous gallantry and resource. He led his company in an attack against a strong enemy position, aptured and consolidated all his objectives, and by his skilful leadership enabled the battalion on his flank to continue the advance when they were held up by the enemy. In a later attack, though he was badly wounded, he continued to lead his men until he collapsed. He set a splendid example of courage and determination.'
