Military Medal

'For conspicuous and gallant devotion to duty as stretcher bearers during operations at GIRD TRENCH near LE SARS on 14th November, 1916. These men did most excellent work attending to and bringing in wounded under very heavy shell and machine gun fire. They continued carrying back wounded to the aid post all day and the greater portion of the night, and undoubtedly saved very many mens lives.'
