'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near HARGICOURT from 18th to 21st September, 1918. As Company Stretcher Bearer during the whole of the engagement, Private CAMPBELL worked fearlessly over an area heavily shelled and swept by machine gun fire. He displayed untiring energy in his attention to wounded and his coolness courage and determination set a splendid example.'
