Military Medal 'Is recommended for conspicuous gallantry while in action near VILLERS BRETONNEUX on night 6th/May, 1918. When an enemy patrol was observed in front of his post he immediately led a patrol out, and by careful handling of this patrol he managed to capture one of the enemy patrol, dispersing the remainder. Just prior to the Battalion taking over the line, this N.C.O.'s Platoon Commander was evacuated, and he had to take the Platoon into a Sector which was a particularly difficult one, on account of the front line posts not being connected up. By well organised sniping and bombing, he was able to keep the enemy posts opposite his Sector very quiet. This N.C.O. has repeatedly shown great skill and leadership, and is well worthy of recognition.'
