'When in charge of a Flanking patrol of 8 men near WADI SABA on 21st July, he saw an enemy patrol of 1 troop. Showing great initiative and dash he immediately rode at them and succeeded in capturing four of them. His record of service in the Regiment has been excellent - both while on GALLIPOLI and during the present campaign and he has consistently shown courage and resource.'
