Meritorious Service Medal 'During the period 26th March to 16th September 1918, this N.C.O. has been carrying out the duties of Battalion Pioneer Sergeant, and has rendered great service in the forward area at all times. He has done particularly good work, and displayed great gallantry and determination in taking charge of parties carrying rations and ammunition to the front line, and leading them through heavy shell fire to their destination.'
