War service: Western Front Embarked Brisbane on HMAT 'Boonah', 21 October 1916; disembarked Plymouth, 10 January 1917; marched into 3rd Training Bn, Durrington, and taken on strength, 11 January 1917. Proceeded overseas to France through Folkestone, 14 May 1917; marched into 1st Australian Division Base Depot, Etaples, 15 May 1917; moved out, 27 May 1917; marched into 9th Bn and taken on strength, 28 May 1917. Admitted to 1st Australian Field Ambulance, Belgium, 21 November 1917, and transferred to 3rd Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne (pleurisy). Proceeded to England on HS 'Jan Breydel', 5 December 1917, and admitted to Tranmere Military Hospital, Birkenhead (lobar pneumonia); transferred to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 30 January 1918; discharged to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 13 February 1918; moved into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 23 March 1918.
