Marched into 9th Training Bn, Durrington, 6 March 1917. Proceeded overseas to France via Folkestone, 2 July 1917; taken on strength, 35th Bn, 30 July 1917. On leave in Paris, 21-31 January 1918. Wounded in action, 17 April 1918 (gunshot wound, left thigh); transferred to 55th Casualty Clearing Station, 18 April 1918; to 16th General Hospital, 20 April 1918. Transferred to England, 28 April 1918, and admitted to 2nd Southern General Hospital, Bristol. Granted furlough, 5-19 June 1918, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, Wiltshire. Returned to duty, 4 July 1918. Wounded in action (second occasion), 22 August 1918 (bullet wound, right knee), and admitted to 55th Casualty Clearing Station. Transferred to 3rd Australian General Hospital, 23 August 1918; to 1st Australian Convalescent Depot, Le Havre, 1 September 1918. Discharged to duty, 19 September 1918.
