Military Cross 'For marked gallantry and devotion to duty during operations near Estrees, on nights 3rd-4th October 1918. Whilst the battalion was massing in the jumping-off trenches, he moved across exposed ground under very heavy fire, and disposed the men in the unshelled portions of the trench system, thus saving futher losses. Later, under heavy shelling, he delivered orders to the attacking troops for immediate assault. Throughout he did excellent work.'
