'This Non Commissioned Officer has during period 22nd September 1917 to 24th February 1918 done excellent work as a Battalion runner and when engaged in active operations with his Battalion, his unfailing courage and coolness has enabled communications to be kept between Battalion Headquarters and Companies also with Brigade Headquarters at all times. He was ever cheerful and willing and has shown great devotion to duty.'
