Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations near LEVERGIEUR on the 18th and 19th September, 1918. This N.C.O. displayed the greatest bravery and initiative in carrying out dangerous reconnaissance in keeping close touch with Infantry throughout the day. On one occasion he returned across country swept by shell and machine gun fire with important information from the flank. His fearlessness throughout the whole battle was a fine example to his men.'
