Wounded, Gallipoli (gun shot wounds, both arms and chest), 8 August 1915; transferred to Alexandria, Egypt, 11 August 1915, and thence to England, and admitted to No. 3 Western General Hospital, Cardiff, 5 October 1915. Taken on strength, No. 2 Convalescent Depot, 4 August 1916. Attached as Home Service Details to 1st Training Battalion, 23 November 1916. Commenced return to Australia, 15 February 1918; disembarked, 17 April 1918; discharged on medical grounds, 22 May 1918. Granted pension of thirty shillings per fortnight from 23 May 1918.
