Admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance, 11 March 1917 (injured left ankle; old injury); discharged from Divisional rest Station to unit, 20 March 1917; rejoined Bn, 20 March 1917.

Wounded in action, 7 June 1917 (gun shot wound, finger elbow, left shoulder); admitted to 4th Stationary Hospital, Arques, 8 June 1917; transferred to 7th Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 30 June 1917; to 3rd Rest Camp, 7 July 1917. Transferred to England, 15 August 1917; marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 16 August 1917; to No 4 Command Depot, Codford, 17 September 1917; to Overseas Training Brigade, Deverill, 19 December 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 10 January 1918; rejoined unit, 16 June 1918.

Wounded in action, 18 September 1918 (gassed); admitted to 2nd General Hospital, Havre, 20 September 1918; transferred to No 1 Australian Convalescent Depot, 22 September 1918; discharged to Australian infantry Base Depot, 13 November 1918; rejoined unit, 1 December 1918.

Attached to Graves Registration Detachment, 24 March 1919. Found guilty, Framerville, 25 June 1919, of disobeying a lawful command given by his superior Officer: forfeited 2 days' pay.

Commenced return to Australia on board 'Ajana', 19 August 1919; disembarked Sydney, 9 October 1919; discharged, 24 November 1919.
