Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an enemy attack. He showed courage and fine leadership in control of his men, and under heavy fire exposed himself freely while directing fire on the enemy. Finally he withdrew his men in perfect order. He was twice wounded.'
