Wounded in action, 3 June 1917 (gun shot wound, right leg and thigh); admitted to 2/3 West Lancashire Field Ambulance, 4 June 1917; transferred to 54th Casualty Clearing Station, 5 June 1917; to 35th General Hospital, Calais, 4 June 1917; to England, 12 June 1917 (gun shot wounds, both legs; right leg amputated), and admitted to 3rd Southern General Hospital, Oxford, 13 June 1917 (gun shot wounds, right leg, left arm, head, left ankle); transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 30 June 1917.
