War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 30 August 1915. Disembarked Alexandria from Mudros, 10 January 1916 (general Gallipoli evacuation). Found guilty, undated, of being absent without leave from Reveille, 18 January, to Reveille, 20 January 1916: awarded 4 days' confined to barracks, and forfeited 3 days' pay. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 20 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 26 March 1916. Wounded in action, 22 August 1916 (shell shock)and admitted to 1st Anzac Rest Station; transferred to 35th Casualty Clearing Station, 27 August 1916; discharged to duty, 4 September 1916; rejoined 24th Bn, in the field, 7 September 1916. Admitted to 5th Australian Field Ambulance, 19 November 1916 (septic foot), and transferred to 36th Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train, 20 November 1916, and admitted to 39th General Hospital, Havre, 21 November 1916 (injured foot, accidental); discharged to Base Depot, Etaples, 17 December 1916; rejoined 24th Bn, in the field, 9 January 1917. Wounded in action (second occasion), 1 June 1918 (shell wound, right arm, left leg), and admitted to 4th London Field Ambulance, and transferred to 20th Casualty Clearing Station.
