'During the operations of 29th September and subsequent days in front of BELLICOURT, this man acted as lineman to his forward Observing Officer. A good observation was found ahead of our Infantry. Notwithstanding the fact that this man was continuously swept by rifle and Machine Gun fire, and that the line was continuously cut by hostile Artillery, Gunner Andrews succeeded in maintaining communication back to the Battery, enabling valuable information as to the Infantry situation to be received. On a further Infantry advance, communication was extended and maintained. Throughout the entire operations this man has shown courage and devotion of high order, and is deserving of special recognition.'
