'On the 12th August, 1918, during operations on the SOMME, near PROYART, this man acted as Runner, and in spite of the heavy fog which made it impossible to sett more than a few yards, he carried messages from His Company to Battalion Headquarters under heavy enemy fire, and returned with valuable information.'
