Military Medal 'Is recommended for his bravery and devotion to duty on the morning of 18th September 1918 in the attack on enemy positions EAST of JEANCOURT. When enemy machine guns opened fire upon his platoon during our advance, he was always keen to dash forward and engage the hostile machine guns, allowing his platoon to advance, and thereby saving casualties. Quick in seizing opportunities that arose, and by his courage and daring, he set a fine example to the rest of his platoon.'
