Found guilty, Heliopolis, 29 February, 1916, of disorderly conduct in the street by shouting and fighting on 25 February 1916: awarded 7 days' confined to barracks.

Taken on strength, 2nd Light Horse Regiment, Tel-el-Kabir, 6 April 1916; transferred to No 12 Coy, Imperial Camel Corps, Abbassia, 15 July 1916; taken on strength, 3rd Anzac Bn, Imperial Camel Brigade, Eastern Expeditionary Force, 11 November 1916.

Reported wounded, Gaza, 19 April, 1917; transferred to Casualty Clearing Station, 20 April, 1917; admitted to Australian General Hospital, 28 April 1917 (gun shot wound, left thigh); posted to 3rd Bn, 11 May 1917; admitted to General Hospital, 22 May 1917 (gun shot wound); rejoined 3rd Bn, 14 June 1917.

Found guilty, 7 March 1917 of (1) breaking out of camp and (2) being absent without leave from 9:00 pm, 27 February, to 4:45 am, 6 March 1917: awarded reduced to Private and forfeited 8 days' pay.

To detention, Cairo, 25 July 1917.

Found guilty, 12 July 1917, of 'offering violence to his superior officer in that he in bivouac, on 5 July 1917, when being escorted to Company Office, broke from his escort and seized a shovel and threatened his Company Officer, saying "I will kill the lot of the bastards" or words to that effect.' Pleaded guilty: sentenced to 2 years' imprisonment with hard labour.

Company, Abbassia, 5 May 1918; rejoined 3rd Bn, 4 May 1918; taken on strength, 15th Light Horse Brigade in organisation, 1 July 1918; admitted to Ismailia Hospital, 14 October 1918 (not yet diagnosed); transferred to Australian General Hospital, Port Said, 5 December 1918; transferred to Moascar, 20 December 1918; released from hospital, 24 January 1919; admitted to Australian General Hospital, Abbassia, 20 June 1919 (venereal disease).

Commenced return to Australia, 24 July 1919; embarked on board HT 'Dongola' from Kantara.
