Military Medal 'During our attack on GIRD TRENCH, in the vicinity of FLERS, on 14th November, 1916, these men [COOK and 414 M.L MARTIN], while acting as linesmen, did continual good work, going out many times through a heavy enemy barrage effecting repairs to our Signal lines, which were frequently cut by hostile artillery fire. It was largely due to their work that communications wsere so excellently maintained between the newly occupied front line and the forward Battalion Headquarters.'
