Military Medal

'Near BONY, from 29th September to 2nd October 1918, in company with Lance Corporal E.J. HOLMES this man displayed the greatest courage, and determination in carrying away wounded men. On 29th September these two men carried out 25 casualties. For 48 hours under heavy artillery and machine gun fire, they worked continuously without rest and under most adverse conditions. By their fearlessness and devotion to duty, they set a splendid example to their comrades and undoubtedly saved the lives of many wounded men by their untiring efforts.'
