Embarked to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 4 November 1915; taken on strength of 15th Bn, Gallipoli, 13 November 1915.

Admitted to hospital, Anzac, 4 December 1915; transferred to No 13 Casualty Clearing Station, 5 December 1915 (debility); to Canadian Stationary Hospital, Mudros, 7 December 1915; to Lowland's Casualty Clearing Station, 8 December 1915; marched into Anzac Advanced Base, Mudros, 11 December 1915; rejoined 15th Bn, Mudros, 19 December 1915.

Transferred to, and taken on strength of 47th Bn, Tel el Kebir, Egypt, 3 March 1916.

Transferred to, and taken on strength of 4th Pioneer Bn, Tel el Kebir, 16 March 1916.

Sentence commuted to 2 years' imprisonment with hard labour, 29 July 1917.

Sentence suspended, 7 August 1918, and entrained for unit the same day; rejoined 49th Bn, 12 August 1918.

Admitted to No 13 Australian Field Ambulance, 5 October 1918, and transferred to No 41 Stationary Hospital, Pont Remy, the same day (pyrexia of unknown origin).

Died, 9 October 1918 (broncho pneumonia).
