War service: Western Front Wounded in action, 23 March 1917; transferred to England, 30 March 1917; admitted to Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, England, 31 March 1917 (gun shot wound, right foot and shoulder). Found guilty, 1 January 1918, of being absent without leave, Sutton Veny, from 6 pm, 18 December 1917, till 10.15 pm, 22 December 1917: awarded 10 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited a total of 24 days' pay. Proceeded overseas to France, 9 April 1918. Marched out to England for return to Australia, 25 March 1919.
