Distinguished Service Order 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This officer was severely wounded at the beginning of an attack, but carried on, and when his platoon was held up by machine gun fire at about 80 yards range, he rushed straight at the gun, killing all the crew and putting it out of action. He then took charge of the company, the commander having been hit, and worked hard at consolidating the position during the night, being again slightly wounded. Fearing a counter attack, he refused to go to the regimental aid post, and remained on duty for thirty hours after being first hit.'
