Military Medal 'During an attack on enemy positions East of ETINEHEM, near BRAY-Sur-SOMME, on night 12th/13th August, 1918, this man who is a company runner showed conspicuous gallantry. Under hostile shell fire he continually carried messages from his company to Battallion Headquarters and it was due to his utter disregard of personal danger that communications were maintained with his company. Again on night of 13th/14th he did excellent work as guide for the American troops relieving his Company when his party had been scattered by heavy hostile shell fire he at once collected them and finally guided them to the front line, thereby allowing the relief to be completed without loss.'
