Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 19 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 26 March 1916. Promoted Sergeant as from 25 February 1916, 24 September 1916; Temporary Company Quartermaster Sergeant, 29 October 1916; Company Quartermaster Sergeant, 16 February 1917.
