Military Medal

'The conduct of this N.C.O. during the attack on BROODSEINDE on 4th October, 1917, was most distinguished. During the heavy enemy barrage he collected and attended to wounded, and continued to do so throughout the day - getting them away to a place of safety. Also for a period of 24 days and nights, whilst working with an engineers carrying party he has done consistently excellent work under fire.'
