Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 21 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 28 March 1916.

Admitted to 3rd Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne, 2 December 1916 (fractured right leg: accidental); transferred to England, 3 December 1916, and admitted to Ontario Military Hospital, 13 December 1916 (fractured right fibula); transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 6 February 1917; discharged to No 2 command Depot, Weymouth, 7 March 1917.
