'These men [8639 R. DAVIDSON, 6436 K.F. LAWRENCE, 6577 L.F.C. MASTERS] were conspicuous for their excellent work during the recent operations near BULLECOURT. They continued for 44 hours from 11.30 p.m. on May 5th 1917 to 7.30 p.m. on May 5th 1917 bearing wounded from the 5th Brigade Aid Post east of BULLECOURT to the Advanced Collecting Station, NOREUIL being under very heavy enemy fire during the whole time. During this period they covered a distance of over 30 miles. These men were in different bearer squads and kept up the moral of the bearers of their respective squads by their coolness and determination in the face of danger, and in spite of all physical fatigue.'
