Military Medal 'On night 3rd/4th May 197 2nd Corporal ARMSTRONG was in charge of a party of sappers and infantry constructing a forward communication trench in U. 29 a. (Sheet 51B). The work was of vital importance and was carried out under very heavy shelling and Machine Gun fire. Throughout the work 2nd Corporal ARMSTRONG set a splendid example by his coolness. When the party was being withdrawn after completing the task. 2nd Corporal ARMSTRONG noticed a man lying badly wounded, 2nd Corporal ARMSTRONG left his party to find a strectcher with which he returned through a very heavy barrage, and then helped to carry the wounded man back to the nearest dressing station. 2nd Corporal ARMSTRONG has been an invaluable member of this company throughout the past nine months.'
