Military Medal 'On the night of the 5th/6th November, 1917, at about 7.30 p.m. the 113th Battery, which was in action on the WESTHOEK RIDGE, east of YPRES was being shelled with 5.9S and 8S shells, when a dump of 500 4.5S Howitzer shells was hit and the explosion set fire to a dump of charges and the camouflage on the gun. Quite regardless of his personal safety and at great personal risk from the bursting ammunition as well as from hostile shells, No. 3508 Sergeant Darcy Hilton DAVISON rushed over to the conflagration and succeeded in putting out the fire thus saving a large quantity of ammunition and also the gun from serious damage. The consistent and conspicuous work of Sergeant DAVISON has more than once come under notice and his actions have always set a good example. The excellent behaviour and example of this N.C.O. is deserving of special recognition. Awarded Military Medal 19th November, 1917.'
