War service: Western Front Embarked Adelaide, 12 August 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 30 September 1916, and marched into Training Bn, Rollestone. Admitted to hospital, 21 November 1916 (broncho-catarrh); discharged from hospital, 26 November 1916. Proceeded overseas to France, 28 December 1916; taken on strength, 27th Bn, in the field, 19 February 1917. Admitted to 6th Australian Field Ambulance, 10 March 1917 (quinsy); transferred to 2nd Divisional rest Station, 11 March 1917; discharged to duty, 28 March 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 29 March 1917. On leave to England, 19 January 1918; rejoined unit, Belgium, from leave, 5 February 1918.
