'During the period of 2nd October, 1917 - 11th October, 1917, this N.C.O. was in charge of the motor cars working along the MENIN ROAD from YPRES to BIRR CROSS ROADS (Sheet 28, I.17.b.2.9). He was untiring in his energy and he displayed good organising powers by keeping the evacuation of wounded running so smoothly. This entailed exposing himself to considerable shell fire on many occasions. He has on all occasions displayed the very greatest evotion to duty.'
