Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, 5 April 1915. Found guilty, 17 September 1915, of being absent without leave from 3 pm, 14 September, to 9.15 am, 16 September 1915: awarded 28 days' Field Punishment No 2; 14 days of sentence remitted, 2 October 1915. Disembarked Alexandria, 7 January 1916 (general Gallipoli evacuation).

Found guilty, Serapeum, 3 March 1916, of being absent without leave from 1700, 26 February, to 1 March 1916: awarded 28 days' Field Punishment No 2 and forfeited 5 days' pay. Transferred to Detention Camp, 3 March 1916; rejoined Bn, 21 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 26 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 31 March 1916.
