Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry on the 30th May, 1915, in the neighbourhood of Gaba Tepe (Dardanelles) while serving in a machine gun section. Although engaged by two hostile machine guns which demolished the emp[lacement, Private Arnott served his gun whilst exposed to the enemy's fire until badly wounded. One hostile machine gun was destroyed.'
