Disembarked from Australia at Suez, 17 May 1916. Reallotted to 14th Training Bn as reinforcements to 56th Bn, Tel-el-Kebir, 24 May 1916.

Proceeded overseas from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 21 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 29 June 1916. Treated at 5th Field Ambulance for shell shock, 31 October 1916; rejoined Bn, 25 November 1916. Admitted to 5th General Hospital, Rouen, 9 December 1916 (myalgia); transferred to England, 11 December 1916; admitted to 2nd Birmingham War Hospital, 12 December 1916. Discharged from hospital, 11 January 1917, and granted furlough to report to No. 4 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 26 January 1917. Transferred to 62nd Bn, 25 April 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on board New Zealand HT '82, 27 August 1917; discharged, 1 December 1917 (chronic rheumatism),
