Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli campaign), 2 March 1915.

Wounded in action (bullet wound in forearm) Gallipoli Peninsula, and admitted 2nd Australian General Hospital, Ghezireh, 25 April 1915; transferred to Convalescence Camp, Mustapha, 20 May 1915; transferred to Convalescence Camp, Helouan; rejoined 31st Bn, 25 October 1915; admitted to 2nd Field Ambulance, Lemnos (pyrexia), and then to 3rd General Hospital, Mudros, 26 November 1915; transferred to Lowland Convalescence Depot, Mudros, 30 November 1915; transferred to Anzac Base, Mudros, 10 December 1915; transferred to unit, 14 December 1915.

Convicted of absent from place of duty (mounting guard) and awarded 24 days? loss of pay, Tel-el-Kebir, 8 February 1916
