Distinguished Service Order 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Nauroy, near Bellicourt, on the night of 2nd and 3rd October, 1918. During heavy enemy bombardment, a gas shell fell on the parapet of the trench in which he and two of his officers were working. Although he was badly gassed he remained with his battery, completed his orders for an attack which was to be launched a few hours later, and carried out the task allotted to his battery. He showed courage and determination of a high order throughout.'
