Admitted to 4th London Field Ambulance, 21 February 1917 (pyrexia, unknown origin); transferred same day to 10th Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train No 26, 23 February 1917, and admitted to 2nd Australian General Hospital, 24 February 1917 (trench fever); transferred to England, and admitted to 2nd Birmingham War Hospital, 1 March 1917; transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 26 March 1917; discharged to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 19 June 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Nestor', 22 July 1917; discharged (medically unfit: impaired vision), Melbourne, 7 November 1917.
