Military Medal

'At POLYGON WOOD on 27/28th September, 1917, when both his Platoon Commander and Sergeant had been killed, this N.C.O. jumped into the breach, and , on his own initiative, led his platoon and captured the allotted sector of the final objective. During the consolidation his coolness and utter disregard of danger were great factors in maintaining the confidence of his men.'
