Proceeded overseas to France, via Folkestone, England, 12 December 1916. Taken on strength, 15th Bn, 19 January 1917.

Wounded in action, 16 June 1917 (gunshot wound, right arm); admitted to No. 13 General Hospital, Wimereux. Rejoined 15th Bn, in the field, from hospital, 3 July 1917.

Admitted to hospital, 31 August 1917 ( pyrexia unknown origin); rejoined Bn, in the field, 6 October 1917. Attached for duty to HQ 4th Australian Infantry Brigade, from 15th Bn, 1 April 1918. Proceeded on leave to the United Kingdom, 20 April 1919; granted furlough, 22 April-8 May 1919.
