Military Medal

'For devoted and gallant service during an attack on enemy positions in the vicinity of MORLANCOURT near ALBERT on the night of 5th/6th May, 1918. At the first objective he outdistanced his wave and jumped into the trench, meeting four of the enemy. These he killed with the bayonet. Between the first and second objective a strong point temporarily held up his platoons advance. He rushed the post from a flank, killing two of the enemy and capturing four prisoners. Throughout the operation he set his platoon a splendid example of bravery and resource.'
