'Caledonian' to Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916. To hospital from unit 23 August 1916; admitted to 3rd Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne, 25 August 1916 (sciatic); transferred to No. 7 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne; to 5th Division Base Depot, Etaples, 18 September 1916. Taken on strength 14th Australian Machine Gun Company, 5th Machine Gun Bn, 20 October 1916. Admitted to 51st General Hospital, sick not yet dignosed, 17 November 1916; transferred to 26th General Hospital, Etaples, (severe dermatitis). Rejoined unit, 3 February 1917. Admitted to 15th Australian Field Ambulance, 20 March 1917; transferred to 45th Casualty Clearing Station, 25 March 1917; to 27th Ambulance Train, 27 March 1917; to 9th General Hospital, Rouen, 28 March 1917. 'Over a period of nearly 12 months has been treated for all sorts of skin diseases.'
