Embarked Sydney, 18 May 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 20 July 1916. Found guilty of (1) in England, absent without leave 0600 hours, 11 August 1916, to 1700 hours,13 August 1916: awarded confined to barracks for 14 days and forfeited 6 days' pay. (2) Whilst at Larkhill, England, absent without leave 2200 hours, 10 August , to 0930 hours, 14 August 1916: awarded 14 days' confined to barracks and 15 days' forfeiture of pay.

Proceeded overseas to France from Southampton, England, 24 November 1916.

Found guilty of being absent without leave from parade from 1400-1500 hours, 28 April 1917: awarded 5 days' forfeiture of pay. Found guilty of being absent without leave 2100 hours, 16 May 1917, to 2100 hours, 17 May 1917: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2 and 16 days' forfeiture of pay.

Wounded in action (gassed), and admitted to Australian Field Ambulance 10 June 1917. Rejoined Bn, 18 June 1917.

Found guilty of being absent without leave, 2100 hours, 7 September 1917, to 1545 hours, 9 September 1917: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No. 2 and forfeited 14 days' pay.

Wounded in action, 14 October 1917; admitted to Australian Field Ambulance with 'Shell Concussion'. Rejoined Bn, 27 October 1917.

Granted leave to England 26 January 1918; rejoined Bn, 13 February 1918.

Found guilty of being absent without leave from Tattoo, night of 10 March 1918, and 0900-1500 hours, 11 March 1918: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2 and forfeited 15 days' pay. Found guilty of being absent without leave, 2130 hours, 1 July 1918, to 2030 hours, 2 July 1918: awarded forfeiture of 9 days' pay.

Wounded in action (shrapnel wound to left hand), and admitted to 20th Casualty Clearing Station, 8 August 1918; invalided on the 'Newhaven' to Essex County Hospital, Colchester, England with 'gunshot wound to left index finger', 25 August 1918.

Found guilty of being absent without leave, 1030 hours, 21 September 1918, London, to 1630 hours, 1 October 1918; awarded forfeiture of 22 days' pay. Found guilty of being absent without leave, 2359 hours, 27 December 1918, to 2200 hours, 28 December 1918: awarded forfeiture of 2 days' pay. Foud guilty of being absent without leave, 30 December 1918; no action taken.

Commenced return to Australia, 24 January 1919, aboard HT 'Delta'; arrived Melbourne, 7 March 1919, for onward travel by boat, to Brisbane (no date of arrival recorded); discharged, 8 May 1919.
