Embarked Sydney, 24 August 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 11 October 1916, and marched in to 8th Training Bn, Codford.

Proceeded overseas to France, 30 December 1916; taken on strength, 30th Bn, in the field, 8 February 1917.

Admitted to 3rd Field Ambulance, 10 May 1917, and transferred to 5th Division Rest Station for isolation (trench fever); to 3rd Canadian Stationary Hospital, Doullens, 12 May 1917; to 1st Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, 22 May 1917; to England, 11 June 1917, and admitted to VAD, Cheltenham, 12 June 1917 (trench fever: slight); transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 27 July 1917 (rheumatism and trench fever); discharged to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 6 August 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Suevic', 27 September 1917 (rheumatism and trench fever); discharged (medically unfit), Sydney, 20 December 1917.
